Kiya Frazier and her husband Oscar met where their passions lie, in music. After years of marriage and years in the corporate world and plenty of mentoring, they both realized that it just wasn’t enough. They wanted to find a way to help teens and young adults build professional lives and also expose them to the world of art that is surrounding them. Sound Decisions RDS, Inc. was founded to help teens and young adults find their passion and turn it into a career that they will love.
Their Transformational Development program contains life transformation to help “troubled youth” get back on track and get into higher education while Development 101 offers resume writing, business etiquette, and how to interact in the corporate world. They also offer career coaching for entry to mid-level professionals who need help find their “next step” in life. The art component exposes youth to music, theatre, dance and other arts within their community. They also advocate for youth and young adults with learning disabilities by providing resources and access to services that help kids with learning disabilities understand what their options are and how to understand their disabilities and work through them.
Ever since coming to an information session, Kiya Frazier knew that Queen City Forward was exactly where they needed to be. Through the connection with Queen City Forward, Sound Decisions will get access to the collective mind of this “think tank”. They value the connections provided by Queen City Forward. In the future, Kiya says, she sees Sound Decisions being the go-to for all youth and young adult development nationwide. “I see us being huge, like Susan G. Komen huge”. In three years they would like to be the staple in Charlotte for a transitioning child in need of some help.
